For many years hunters and outdoor enthusiasts have planted food plots to improve the nutrition available to their deer herd and other wildlife habitats to increase their chances of harvesting a quality buck or enhance wildlife viewing opportunities. FMC works with its clients to manage the existing, native vegetation with planted food plots to supplement wildlife’s diet during critical periods of the year. Diverse plots and habitat reduce the risks of high mortality during severe weather conditions.
We will assess your woodland, determining the areas with the best soil quality and site characteristics to easily transition into an extremely valuable food plot. We will then discuss with you the various choices in forage that can be planted to ensure that food is growing during all seasons to provide the necessary carbohydrates, protein, etc. that the wildlife need during that given time period. For some landowners , it is vital that they clear a portion of the forestland to create an open, food plot area where there previously was none. See the step-by-step process (below) of one such project that was implemented for an FMC client.
